J B Ravishankar

Ravishankar is the founder president of GRIPSINDIA, a company presently engaged in the Design, Installation & Dismantling of Back Stays to erect the Arches for the world’s highest railway bridge on Chenab River, Jammu & Kashmir. He has been associated with TSP since its founding and is a core group member providing guidance and advice on our programmes and supporting our training programmes.

Prior to GRIPS INDIA, Ravishankar initiated CCL System of Prestressing in Indian Railways first segmental bridge at Aroor Kumbalam Bridge and other national important projects like, Panvel Viaduct Bridge & Konkan Rail Bridges.

He was instrumental in introducing BAR GRIP technology for joining Reinforcement bars to India from concept to common practice of today. Technologies being his forte, he founded the GRIPSINDIA in 1993 with services of Post Tensioning to Konkan Railway Corporation and many bridges and flyovers.

He did the first extradosed bridge at Kharghar Flyover, Mumbai with total Indian Technology within just 3 months and initiated India’s first Laboratory for Fatigue Testing at IIT, Madras. He was also instrumental in setting up India’s first mechanised precast plant at Chennai in the year 2004 leading a precast revolution into today’s building industry. Having developed a unique type of Pile Testing for infrastructure projects, the technology is available today on franchise basis to the projects and deserving individuals wishing to become technocrats. A Civil Engineering graduate from National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, he has widely travelled all over the world. He has an in depth knowledge of technology, marketing & finance required for setting up a new business venture with a vision.

Ravi is our adviser in Greening initiatives, Disaster Risk Reduction programmes and one whom we fall back on when we have to work with advising Public Works engineers and Urban Planners, to integrate Sustainability perspectives and training for them on Systems and Sustainability Thinking. He is also a resource in providing perspectives with regard to liability issues in engineering for law persons.
